During last IBC, I made a turn of the different tools which can help to create this kind of workflows. Some provides software and others provides appliances. Here is an overview of the different solutions of the company I identified which provide solutions.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Harmonic<\/h2>\n<p>Harmonic provides some solutions to generate file from live stream :\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/harmonicinc.com\/product\/promedia-live\">ProMedia Live server<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/harmonicinc.com\/product\/prostream-1000-ace\">ProStream 1000 with ACE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/harmonic_live_to_vod.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1636 aligncenter\" alt=\"harmonic_live_to_vod\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/harmonic_live_to_vod.png\" width=\"370\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ProMedia Live can be available as software only or as an appliance (based on optimized hardware). The ProMedia 1000 with ACE is a 1U device.<\/p>\n<p>You can use API or GUI to manage the server and create to order to generate VoD content from Live stream. Both support SDI inputs of HD\/SD video or MPEG2 \/ H.264 via transport stream.<\/p>\n<h2>Hexaglobe<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1603 alignright\" alt=\"hexaglobe\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/hexaglobe.gif\" width=\"250\" height=\"54\" \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hexaglobe.com\">Hexaglobe<\/a> provided a solution called : Advanced Replay. This solution provides two main features :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an automatic mode which is pluggable to an EPG for example<\/li>\n<li>a GUI to create extract scenes from the live<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Advanced Replay records the live stream and can be able to provide more than 72hours of recorded streams.\u00a0The solution is GoP accurate and take as input : TS, RTMP and also SDI.<\/p>\n<p>To finish the solution is provided in a server 1U and can be implemented with others Hexaglobe solutions or with some others solutions (CDN, CMS etc&#8230;)<\/p>\n<h2>MediaExcel<\/h2>\n<p><a style=\"color: #ff4b33; line-height: 24px; font-size: 16px;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/hero_5000.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1634 alignleft\" alt=\"hero_5000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/hero_5000.png\" width=\"235\" height=\"74\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MediaExcel is based in the US. They provide one solution : <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaexcel.com\/products\/hero-vs-cloud\">Media Excel HERO<\/a>.\u00a0This platform can manage , on the same one,\u00a0Live and VoD. MediaExcel provide also 1U servers.<\/p>\n<p>You can scale the platform with the cloud to create a head-end architecture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaexcel.com\/images\/cloud.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mediaexcel.com\/images\/cloud.png\" width=\"392\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;With HERO&#8217;s on-demand dynamic repurposing for live-to-live, live-to-file, and file-to-file transcoding, no other platform delivers the quality, ease of use, and management capabilities for reducing CAPEX and OPEX.&#8221; said\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prlog.org\/12206565-media-excel-powers-enhanced-multiscreen-opportunities-4kuhd-and-hevc-solutions-at-ibc-2013.html\">John Hotchkiss, COO at Media Excel, during last IBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>OpenHeadEnd<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-1604\" style=\"line-height: 24px; font-size: 16px;\" alt=\"openheadend\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/openheadend.png\" width=\"211\" height=\"33\" \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/openheadend.tv\/\">OpenHeadEnd<\/a> is a french company. OpenHeadEnd provides a solution based on a simple USB dongle you can plug on a standard PC or a server. Many inputs are possible : from terrestrial reception to IP. The output formats are MPEG2, MPEG4 .\u00a0You manage the solution via a web interface. Various features are available :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>record live 24H\/24H<\/li>\n<li>capture and recompose a VoD content from recorded\u00a0live stream<\/li>\n<li>remux or\/and transcode streams<\/li>\n<li>manage failover (for example if one input failed, the solution use another).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can have an overview on how to create workflow via the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/OpenHeadend?feature=watch\">Youtube channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Unified Streaming Capture<\/h2>\n<p>CodeShop, knew with it main product <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unified-streaming.com\/products\/streaming\/\">Unified Streaming<\/a>, announced last Summer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unified-streaming.com\/products\/capture\/\">Unified Capture<\/a>. The solution can be implemented in the Unified Streaming environment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1608 aligncenter\" alt=\"unified capture\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alkannoide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/capture.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You save your live stream on the disk. Then, you send to Unified Capture (a command-line tool) the TC-in and TC-out to cut and you obtain a single file output.\u00a0This solution is also frame accurate.<\/p>\n<p>This article give an overview of the different solutions I identified, but perhaps I missed others companies\/solutions.
